No; however, you do need what’s considered “creditable coverage” by Medicare and prescription drug coverage to avoid a Late Enrollment Penalty. It is wise to get a Medicare quote and compare it to your Group plan, for example. Knowledge is power! We can also help you enroll after leaving your Group Plan after age 65.
There are many options and enrollment periods with Medicare, not just during 4th quarter Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7). An agent can explain your options or what type of coverage may help lower your annual costs. Contact us anytime of the year with questions.
No! Your plan continues until you make a change. Review your “Annual Notice of Change” letter that arrives in September or October of every year. Pay attention to your premiums and watch for a large increase.
Get a review from your agent if you’ve had any medical changes within the last year or changes with your prescription drugs. If your premiums have increased at an unexpected rate, that’s also a good time to see what plan options you have to lower your annual costs.
